The Festival

The Academic IT Festival is an annual international conference directed especially to people from the whole Poland who show the passionate interest in computer technology. This event distinguishes itself by the fact that it is arranged by students and for students and therefore it caters for users’ tastes perfectly. This Festival is the forum for the interchange of information and experience related to computer technology between the experts and hearers in this field. It makes the contact area for the students with similar interests. Since the very first edition, that took place in 2005, the Festival has been becoming very popular. Cracow city has not offered a similar event so far. At Cracow’s universities scientific life had been thriving, however there was no contact with the founders of computer technique in Poland and in the world. Making use of books and IT magazines left the feeling of unsatisfaction and finally ceased to be enough. The group made of the members from scientific circles: AGH, PK, UJ and UE decided to take the task of arranging the event on the all-Poland scale that was to break the deadlock. And as you can see, it has succeeded.

Every year, the Academic IT Festival surprises everybody with its momentum. At present, it is the biggest event of this type in the Central Europe. The conference offers the wide range of raised issues as for instance software engineering, operating systems, networks or subject matter of open source. The result is that the lectures are chosen both by the experts and by beginners in the given fields. The multitude of subjects is also the guarantee that all the participants will find something for themselves. The conference guests are always people who have something interesting to say: experts of Polish and world IT environment, the representatives of the biggest global corporations. Amongst them there have been: prof. Andrew Tanenbaum, prof. Ryszard Tadeusiewcz, Vahe Amirbekyan, Lukas Renggli and others. Their experience completes perfectly the theoretical knowledge that is acquired by the participants during their studies.

The Festival rank is confirmed by the received patronages. The last edition was taken under the honourable wings by:
- The Mayor of Cracow - Mr. Jacek Majchrowski,
- The Governor of Małopolska – Mr. Maciej Klima,
- His Magnificence Rector of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow,
- His Magnificence Rector of the Cracow University of Technology,
- His Magnificence Rector of the Academy of Economics in Cracow (now University of Economics in Cracow),
- His Magnificence Rector of the Jagiellonian University.

Within three last editions of the Festival, almost 50 lectures took place and there were almost several hundred participants from different corners of Poland.

The conference organisers are the members of Scientific Circles from four Cracow’s Alma Maters: the Jagiellonian University, the University of Economics in Cracow, the AGH University of Science and the Cracow University of Technology.

The Academic IT Festival is a non-profit initiative. The participation is totally free of charge.

We cordially invite you for the Festival edition of this year!
